lululemon today announced that following the enthusiastic response to last year’s pilot programme, the Like New programme will be relaunched in Hong Kong. The initiative aims to extend the lifespan of clothing through recycling and resale, supporting customers in integrating sustainability into their daily lives.
Details of the Like New Programme
The Like New programme will be conducted in two phases:
- 2 July 2026 to 30 September 2026: Product recycling campaign
- November 2026: Like New pop-up event
From now on, selected lululemon stores in Hong Kong, including Queen’s Road Central, Pacific Place, Causeway Bay Times Square, Cityplaza, Tsim Sha Tsui Harbour City, and Sha Tin New Town Plaza, will offer recycling services. Customers can bring in lululemon or other brand clothing that they no longer wear but is still in good condition for recycling. Successful recyclers will receive a HK$100 thank-you voucher, terms and conditions apply.
Collaboration with Redress
This programme will continue lululemon’s collaboration with local environmental non-profit organisation Redress. The clothing collected during the recycling campaign will be sorted and processed by Redress, which will arrange for resale, donation, or recycling based on the condition of the items. Clothing that is in good condition but does not meet sales standards will be donated to the International Red Cross or other local community organisations in need.
Promoting Education in Circular Design
Additionally, lululemon has partnered with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University to launch the RE:FORM circular design competition, aimed at promoting design education and nurturing future talent. The competition invites students to explore how to apply circular design principles to rethink the possibilities of clothing and extend its lifespan. Winners will receive internship opportunities at lululemon and mentorship from brand experts.
Dr. Chan Pui Kei, Regional Director of lululemon Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, stated: “We are excited to bring the Like New programme back to Hong Kong, reflecting our commitment to extending the value of product use and further expanding our collaboration with partners and local communities to promote the development of circular fashion.”
